Cru was founded as Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 by Bill and Vonette Bright. The organization was originally headquartered in San Bernadino, California, but has since relocated its headquarters to Orlando, Florida. Campus Crusade for Christ changed its name to Cru in 2011, among great controversy.
